Your phone rings. The caller says they are from your bank. They say $4,800 is being stolen right now and they need the six-digit code that just arrived on your phone.

What do you do?

STOP.
DO NOT GIVE THE CODE.
HANG UP.
CALL THE BANK USING A NUMBER YOU FIND YOURSELF.

Quick variations

• Grandchild emergency: Use the family password, hang up, and call family through a known number.
• Package text link: Do not use the link. Open the delivery company’s normal app or website.
• Government or tax threat: Do not pay on the call. Find the official agency website yourself.
